Partner with Paredice to eco-transform your local area

...

Evoware is proud to be part of Paredice Climate Alliance, a collective of social enterprises and non-profit organizations that focuses on creating a clean Indonesia, free from waste. Paredice members include Parongpong RAW Lab, Rawhaus, Evoware (Evo&Co.), DiversCleanAction, and CarbonEthics, all of whom specialize in different areas of sustainability, from offering eco-products, providing integrated waste management services, to greening nature through carbon exchange.

With Paredice, we aim to partner with local governments and/or private sector companies and collaborate in transforming local areas into cleaner, more sustainable communities.

Paredice at Bonebol

Bone Bolango (Bonebol) is a district in Indonesia with a large fraction (70.74%) of its land conserved. However, in 2020, almost half (46.84%) of the total waste produced in a year was not properly managed, threatening Bonebol's nature and wildlife. With Bonebol's goal of developing a tourism village, the community knew they had to do better - and that’s where Paredice stepped in.

In collaboration with the District Government of Bone Bolango, Paredice proposed and executed a waste management and nature conservation program, which resulted:

  1. Waste management training and waste mapping  in 300 household

  2. FGDs and training with 34 participants which resulted in further program recommendation plans

  3. 2 clean up actions on the local beach

  4. Build a waste management facility

  5. Training for trainers program as follow-up assistance activities with local communities

  6. Calculation of total carbon emissions in terms of electricity use, transportation, food and accommodation result is 13,888.21 KGCO2e, which was offset by planting 695 mangroves.

How you can help
If you are part of a local government or a private sector company with a vision to transform a community into a cleaner and more sustainable one, we’d love to hear from you! Get in touch with our team at [email protected].

Recycle used disposable masks with our KESAN packs

Recent studies estimate that we currently use an astounding 129 billion face masks globally every month, with most of them disposable and made of plastics which will take 450 years to break down (and even then, they’ll break into microplastics). With increasing reports on inappropriate disposal of masks and its threat to the environment and wildlife, it’s important for us to start switching to reusable face masks - or at least learn to dispose of single-use masks responsibly.

Our KESAN (Kresek Kesadaran), a.k.a. ’Awareness Bags’ campaign provides a unique service where you can purchase a Kesan bag, fill it up with used single-use masks and drop it off to a recycling center near you so the masks can be recycled. This is done by using a hydrothermal waste treatment, which dissolves the masks and turns them into wall tiles. The KESAN bags themselves are made from cassava, a renewable and compostable material.

How you can help

Follow these simple steps:

  1. Purchase a KESAN Pack at Tokopedia
  2. Fill it up with used disposable masks, as per instructions
  3. Once full, tie it up and bring it to one of our drop-off points
  4. You’re done! Leave the recycling to us

KESAN drop-off points:

  1. Bandung - Parongpong RAW Lab, Jalan Cigugur Girang No. 145, Parongpong, West of Bandung 40559
  2. Jakarta - Phoenix Communication, Jalan Kemang Utara VII No. 19C, Bangka, Mampang Prapatan, Jakarta Selatan
  3. Bali - NOW Bali, Jalan Pengubengan Kauh No. 99, Bali 80361
  4. Yogyakarta - Rindu Piat UGM, Jalan Raya Berbah Utara, Tanjung, Kec. Berbah, Kab. Sleman, DIY 55573

Warung Lestari: Help warungs (small food stalls) switch to eco-friendly straws and learn ways reduce their plastic consumption

As the world’s second-largest plastic producer in the world, Indonesia’s plastic straw consumption exceeds 90 million straws a day. Yet, only 60% of Indonesia’s waste is collected by municipal management systems, while the rest is burnt or dumped into the environment. Every year, an estimated 1 million tons of the country’s plastic waste finds its way into the ocean. Despite efforts from the private and public sector to curb the use of single-use plastics, these often only target middle-to-upper class Indonesians, leaving the rest of the population behind.

Warung Lestari is a collaborative programme that aims to prevent the growth of plastic pollution by subsidizing and warung owners with Evoware’s eco-friendly straws and providing them with education on how to reduce their plastic consumption. To ensure effectiveness, each recipient warung is also monitored and guided for a period of 6 months.

Campaign activities

  1. Straw subsidy
Warung Lestari works on a monthly basis. With our subsidy, warung owners can purchase 1,000 pieces of Evoware’s rice straws per month at the same price that they would pay for plastic straws. Our rice straws are made from rice and tapioca, and thus safe for human and animal consumption. It is also biodegradable, compostable and water soluble, making them eco and ocean friendly. Find out more about our rice straws here Education.
  2. Education
We provide warung owners with knowledge on how to reduce their plastic waste, how to manage their waste and how to be responsible for their own business waste. Educational posters that can be affixed to each warung are also provided to act as a reminder and to build further awareness
  3. Waste management
We also assist warung owners with their waste management and incentivize good behavior

How you can help

At IDR 400,000, you can ‘adopt’ a warung for a period of one month, subsidizing their purchase of 1,000 rice straws and providing them with education around plastic pollution and waste management. You will also receive a campaign report with details of our activities and the impact you’re making with your contribution.

Keen to donate more? If you adopt a warung for a period of six months at IDR 2,400,000 on top of a monthly campaign report, you will also have the option of putting your brand’s logo on the warung’s education poster/banner and receiving a dedicated thank-you post on our social media.
